Montpeculiar.....

Error Drops Montpelier's National Ranking
A math mistake has rarely hurt a student's standing so much. The realization that the US News and World report made an error in a national ranking has dropped Montpelier HS from being fifth in the country to 505th. While the shift sounds dramatic, and does push the school from a "gold" standing to a less-prestigious "silver" standing, Montpelier remains in the top 3% of the 18,790 US schools used in the survey. The schools were chosen for overall student performance on standardized tests, performance on those tests by disadvantaged students and the percentage of HS seniors who took advanced placement tests. The error, detected by principal Peter Evans last week , forced US News & World report to re-run its numbers. Yada-yada-yada.
